JA Leadership

JA Leadership curriculum cover
JA Leadership requires a minimum of six sessions and is recommended for students in grades 9 through 12. Instructional materials are packaged for 30 students and include six detailed activity plans for the volunteer and workbooks for students.

Activity One: Nature of Leadership: The students discover what leadership is, and why it is important. They recognize how the development of leadership skills may impact their lives.
Activity Two: The Leadership Project: The students research issues surrounding topics for leadership projects that they will conduct in the school or community.
Activity Three: Model Leadership: The students are introduced to a leadership model and explore how the model applies to a leadership situation.
Activity Four: Lakeside, A Case Study: The students analyze a case study of a reform effort to improve the quality of life in a city. They identify how the business, community, and civic leadership collaborated to achieve social, political, and economic change.
Activity Five: Local Leadership: The students will develop their own case study based on options that would promote economic development in their local community. They will analyze the potential effects of alternative actions on the quality of life in their community, and decide upon the desirable course.
Activity Six: Proven Leadership: The students demonstrate their leadership abilities by giving oral and written reports about their leadership projects.

Request a Presenter to Teach Curriculum

A Junior Achievement Volunteer teaches students
Junior Achievement lessons are delivered by volunteers from the community. These presenters are prepared by JA to facilitate engaging learning activities that focus on financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship. This results in an enriched learning experience that helps students make the connection between what they learn in school and the world outside the classroom.

Steps to Request a Presenter

Steps to Request a Presenter

1) Request Info

Once you've decided to have a JA volunteer in your classroom, fill out the form on this website. You will receive information on next steps.

2) Pick Schedule

You will be able to coordinate a schedule that works for your class either online or in conjunction with a JA representative.

3) Meet Presenter

Once a volunteer is identified for your class, JA will connect you with the presenter to discuss roles, expectations, and logistics.

4) Empower Students with Standards-Based Education

After all details are in place, the JA volunteer will deliver lessons to your students either virtually or in-person.
