John is a graduate of Stanford and Harvard, the former Chair of the Reno Tahoe Open Foundation is actively involved in the Reno-Sparks community including past and present roles as Director of the Reno Air Race Association, founding member of the Montrêux Golf & Country Club Board of Governors, Co-Chair of the KNPB Channel 5 Capital Campaign and a Trustee of the William F. Harrah Automobile Foundation (1979 to 1995). He also served on the Stanford University Athletic Board from 2000-2005.

Sande currently practices law at Fennimore Craig specializing in the areas of Administrative Law and Trusts and Estates. As part of his practice, he appears regularly before the Nevada Legislature. He is General Counsel for the Nevada Bankers Association, a Director for Employers Insurance Group of Nevada and Chairman of the Board for First Independent Bank of Nevada. John was just awarded Best Lawyers in America®, Lawyer of the Year, Government Relations Practice, 2017.
